Biography

John M. Dettoni, Ph.D. and Carol M. Dettoni founded Chrysalis Ministries in 1992. John is an ordained pastor, educator and Bible teacher; a youth and adult ministry specialist, and an educational and organizational consultant. He was a Professor at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA, for 14 years. where he was also the Assistant Provost for Extended Education, Research and Development.

John has a B.A. and an M. A. (Wheaton College), an M. Div. (Fuller Theological Seminary), a Ph.D. from Michigan State University (Curriculum Research and Communications). John is the author of a number of articles and books, including “Introduction to Youth Ministry” (Zondervan), “Nurture That is Christian: A Developmental Perspective of Christian Education” (Co-editor, co-author with Jim Wilhoit, Victor), etc. and articles on worship, small groups, faith development, and developmentalism, etc.

Carol has a B. A. (Wheaton College) and has been a curriculum writer, magazine and book editor, Assistant Minister of Youth, (Lake Avenue Congregational Church, Pasadena, CA) and has been active in church leadership and administration, caring ministries and Christian Education for infants through adults. Carol has written “Caring for Those Who Can’t” (Victor) and co-authored (with John) “Parenting Before and After Work” (Victor).

Chrysalis Ministries is a non-profit, 501C3 organization, with an outstanding Board of Directors who meet twice annually to give guidance and oversight. Chrysalis is a “lean” organization, with a part-time staff of: secretary, administrative assistant and CFO/Treasurer.
